The Ultimate in Leadership & Team Building
Step into our office, the flight deck of the ATR 42/72 full motion flight simulator where you and your team will be tested in the ultimate in leadership, decision making, team skills and communications. We provide you with a fully trained pilot who will, with your assistance handle the aircraft, however, they will not make any command decisions, that’s up to you.
After an extensive briefing session you and your team head for the aircraft. Along the way a series of events will unfold that will test your planning and communications skills. All the time you are flying at 326 miles an hour burning 600kg of fuel per hour so there is no time for role play - this is real play! On the ground another team are on the radio as a resource - how will you use them.
Our instructors will monitor your progress and your skills and you will get a full debrief at the end of the exercise. We are looking for evidence of planning, identifying resources, thinking well under pressure, communicating your intentions and holing a team in place. All this happens in a real-time simulation that focusses the mind and the team.
The quality of this programme is down to the level of preparation we put into the event. We match where possible, the events and exercises to match the leadership values and competencies of the client company.
All participants are evaluated in advance and and at the end of the programme using EQi Leadership competencies.
The event can be booked over one or two days depending on the level of activity planned.
Before the session we will brief participants on the route they are about to fly. This is a non technical presentation but contains some valuable information which they have to sort from all the additional extra data around them.
Once they board the aircraft a series of events will unfold that will test the group. The session is recorded and will be used in the detailed debrief.
This is an exciting environment that changes in front of their eyes and there is no pause button on this exercise.
The pilot on board will manage the flying, the team will do the rest, making decisions, sourcing additional information on the radio for other members of the team on the ground and getting the aircraft back safely on the ground within the 90 minute flight.
The session ends with a detailed de-briefing before the teams change to support their colleagues “in the air”.
Two weeks before the event we ask participants to complete an emotional intelligence leadership profile, this will be used to brief our instructors and in the design of the situations they will face.
Note this programme can also be used in the selection process of new leaders and managers.
We are specific in matching the exercises closely to the management / leadership competencies and values of the client organisation. If these are not available we will use the following;
Integrity/Ethics this is the foundation; you must tell the truth and do the right thing.
Visioning/Strategy – leaders need to point the way and develop compelling plans
Results Focus – leaders must have a bias for action and be relentless about getting things done
Judgment - a great differentiator – it seems you either have it or you don’t
Passion/Optimism – who doesn’t want to work for someone who exudes positive energy?
Building the Team – great leaders hire and surround themselves with great talent.
Cares For/Develops Others – people flock to leaders who have a reputation for growing talent.
Accountability - leaders have to accept and create a culture of accountability.
Benefits to your team.
